Who's On First? Not a Scientist.

This old Abbott and Costello clip reminds me of the way that the Harper government handles important issues. It's like dealing with morons.

There's an excellent commentary in the Globe and Mail, written by Shari Gaydon, about how this government ignores experts.

I have to say it’s been a tough year for Canadians who prefer facts over dogma, and defensible public policy over base-appeasing partisan politics. Reading the daily paper or watching the nightly news recently makes me feel like I’ve entered a parallel universe – one where it’s acceptable practice for responsible adults to cover their ears and shout “I can’t hear you!” in order to avoid being confronted by information that doesn’t appeal to them.

The last straw was Christian Paradis demanding that all scientific reporting must pass by him before being made public, scientific wizard that he is.

I'm tired of this bloody base, whoever they are. I feel like I'm in a bad episode of Dragnet.

Just the facts Steve ... Just the facts.

  1. Wait a minute, "all scientific reporting must pass by him before being made public"??? Like a censor or something? And this is Canada? Censoring scientific reporting? How did we get ourselves into this?
