Nigel Wright Will be a Walking Talking Conflict of Interest

Besides being given the opportunity to drive the final nail in the coffin of the Progressive Conservative party, why would Nigel Wright take a huge cut in pay, to work for a man that no one can get along with?

This does give the many interests he works for, an "in", but he won't be able to discuss anything his boss does, without being in conflict.

Did Wright really hate the Tories that much?

It's a puzzle.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper's incoming chief of staff Nigel Wright has so many potential conflicts of interest over government policy that could affect the company he is temporarily leaving he may have to avoid nearly all major deliberations that occur in the Prime Minister's Office, opposition MPs say.

They base their criticism on comments made by Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson when she outlined measures that are required for public office holders who leave the private sector for government positions like the one Prime Minister Harper (Calgary Southwest, Alta.) is offering Mr. Wright, a partner, major shareholder and managing director of Toronto-based Onex Corporation, who will take a six-figure pay cut when he officially starts his job on Jan. 1, 2011. The firm has subsidiaries and interests in firms that cover a range of key government areas, including defence, health, aerospace, finance and energy, the opposition says.
We'll have to keep our eye on this guy. Like Guy Giorno, he's an old Mike Harris backroom buddy, so he does come with baggage.
