Why Does Toronto Need 100 More Police Officers?

Canada's Tea Party member, Rob Ford, the new mayor of Toronto is planning on hiring 100 more police officers, saying that you can't have too many police. I beg to differ.

After their horrible display at the G-20 there are a few too many in the ranks.

And even the police chief disagrees Ford.
In keeping with his “never enough” approach, however, Ford reaffirmed in a radio interview this week that he will move ahead with his campaign promise to hire 100 new police officers, at a cost of 10 million a year. It appears to be a top priority for Ford. But Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair says it is “premature” to discuss officer deployment. Blair is surely right, given that we have not yet had a broader look at the police budget. Alok Mukherjee, chair of the Toronto Police Services Board, has also noted that it wouldn’t be easy to train that many officers all at once, given limited police college space.
I guess Harper and Ford can only base their manhood on the size of their riot squads.

And speaking of riot squads, why isn't Fantino willing to tell us what he spent 100 million dollars on for the weekend from hell?
