NDP Plan Rally to Dishonour Two Fallen Canadian Soldiers

Stagnating in public support, the NDP are trying desperately to get back to the days when the passion over Bill C-51; the omnibus bill that is now law, and changes many laws; gave them a bump in the polls.  To do that they are planning rallies against the Liberals over Harper's C-51.

The media will still have to wear their complicity, in the nonsense that blamed Justin Trudeau, and let Stephen Harper off the hook, in their attempt to become kingmakers.  However, they have forgotten an important fact.

Two Canadian soldiers were killed on Canadian soil.

The sister of one, welcomed tougher security laws, so hoping that her brother had not died in vain.  No one can argue that the Harper government took it too far, but the anti-terrorism portion of the law can be amended.  We cannot bring back these two young men, but every sign carried is being used to kill them over and over again.

For heaven sakes let them rest in peace.

Olivia Chow is going to lead the charge.  I don't know when she became heartless, but maybe someone needs to send her a picture of those soldiers, with the names of their grieving family members.

If she can still protest after that, then she has no business wanting to be a member of our government.

This has never been the Canadian way.  We don't spit on soldiers graves.

How Thomas Mulcair Dashed the Hopes of Millions of Canadians

On July 17, 1996,  Bill C-35 came into effect, which redefined the federal minimum wage to be the adult minimum wage, in the provinces where the work was performed; by those employed in industries that fell under federal jurisdiction.

At the time, federal minimum wage was just $4.00 an hour, while in B.C.,  for instance, it was $7.00 an hour.  Bill C-35 allowed federal workers to be paid the same as their provincial counterparts.

The Bill received the full support of the Bloc and NDP.  Only the Reform Party opposed, wanting instead to just lower taxes.

One name appearing on the Nay list was the member of Parliament for Calgary West, Stephen Harper.

Today we are hearing a lot of criticism, primarily from the NDP and their supporters, of Jean Chretien, who was in power when the Bill was passed, despite the fact that in 1996, the NDP and their supporters applauded the move. It made sense and it was the right thing for them to do.

What doesn't make sense, and is profoundly wrong, is that they are exploiting this decades old bill to trick people into believing that the NDP are going to somehow save Canadians from the horror of this legislation.

Their ads suggest that they are going to raise the national/federal minimum wage to $15.00 an hour.

This created quite a buzz on social media, with claims that this would profoundly change the living conditions of the working poor.

What isn't in their fancy and over simplified ads, is that this will only affect about 100,000 workers of roughly 18,000,000.  To raise those hopes for political gain, when you know full well that those hopes will be dashed when the program is implemented, is not only misleading, it is cold hearted.
On the streets of Toronto, Canadians of all ages were surprised to discover the NDP’s campaign promise was missing some important details.
Food truck worker Patrick McCormack said he thought the NDP’s $15/hr proposal meant that “that if you are working a job, regardless of what it is, you would be getting paid $15 an hour for that job.”
Obviously,  Mulcair's "middle class values" include a complete disregard for those who are really suffering. Maybe he needs to get down in the trenches and see how many Canadians are forced to live.  He's spent most of his time advocating for the rights of the wealthy, and has no idea what hunger is.

Dangling this false hope in front of people who are losing hope is beyond despicable.

We don't need to have the federal minimum wage reinstated.  It was archaic and costly.  Provinces are better able to determine what their regional markets can bear.  We need a living wage, the only thing that will really raise people from poverty.

Since CUPE has jumped on the bandwagon, using the subterfuge of "Liberal supporters", I can only assume that they want the Canadian public to prop up a costly program, for a small section of the workforce, so that they can unionise those only full time, only under federal jurisdiction, workers.

I can see no other reason for the NDP promoting this nonsense, especially as a way to relieve mass suffering.

Completely heartless.

When Did Jim Flaherty Join the British Parliament? Welcome to Neoconservatism 101

When Jim Flaherty was in Mike Harris's government, he suggested throwing the homeless in jail. Now the British Neoconservative government is taking this one step further. They are making it illegal to feed the homeless. Kind of like pigeons. If you don't feed them they will just go away.
THEY spent much of the run-up to the election trying shake off their image as the nasty party. But a heartless group of Tories have revealed their true colours by banning charities from running soup kitchens for the homeless. Conservative Westminster council in Central London also wants to make it an offence to sleep rough – while slashing £5million of funding to hostels.

Astonishingly, town hall chiefs claimed soup kitchens only “encourage” people to sleep on the streets. Westminster council, one of the richest in the land, wants to bring in a bylaw making it an offence to “give out food for free”, punishable by fines. The twisted move blows apart David Cameron’s Big Society boast that an army of volunteers will flock to help those worse off. And it sparked a storm of criticism. Reverend Alison Tomlin of the Methodist church in Westminster said: “The proposals are nothing short of disgusting. This bylaw punishes people solely for their misfortune and belongs in a Victorian statute book, not the 21st century.”
That's the trouble with this kind of conservatism, run by corporations. They have no heart and no soul. They only see dollar signs. Welcome to neoconservatism 101. This is what a Harper majority would like.

I'm watching Al Jazeera and they just announced that Rupert Murdoch was being allowed to take over all of the British television media. And with one media David Cameron is planning on running "free" self-promotion ads.
“Broadcasting the state’s good news used to happen in the old Soviet Union. We don’t want it from Mr Cameron. “We regulate party political broadcasts for a reason. He shouldn’t be trying to get round the rules by putting pressure on broadcasters".
At least they'll be free, even if they are Pravda-like. Our government has charged taxpayers $150 million for theirs.

Conservative Bev Shipley Says to Hell With The Vets. He'll Stand Up For No One!

Just when you thought the Harper government couldn't sink any lower, MP Bev Shipley just sent out a ten per center suggesting that his government supports the troops.

Paid for by us no less.

What a slap in the face to Canadian veterans, who are in the process of fighting Shipley's leader for the respect they have already earned.

Unbelievable.

I think we should all send Shipley an invoice, suggesting that we be reimbursed for this nonsense, and demand that he apologize to the veterans and their families. I'd say he should be ashamed, but obviously the Reformers have no shame, and Mr. Shipley just proved it.

You can find his email here.

But fortunately, there are Canadians out there who really do care. Sean Wilson of London is drawing attention to the plight of veterans and their abuse at the hands of the Harper government.
Sean Wilson has heard enough words. Now the London veterans' rights advocate wants Londoners to stand up and be counted at a rally in support of Canadian troops and veterans Sunday. "For anyone who has that yellow-ribbon magnet that says ‘Support our troops,' on their car, this is your chance to prove you mean it," said Wilson, an organizer with the Remember November 11 Association.

"I talk to veterans and they're saying ‘We need Canada to stand up for us right now.'" The rally under the banner "Stand Up For Our Troops" is set for noon Sunday at Victoria Park.
