We Need to Also Look at Jason Kenney and This Doctored Document

The House is becoming heated again, this time over Bev Oda's admission that she altered a document, and lied to Parliament about it. A very serious offense.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government is facing a looming scandal, as the opposition vowed Tuesday to discover whether a cabinet minister's decision to "doctor" a key memo from bureaucrats followed an order from Harper's office. At a news conference, Liberal MP Bob Rae blasted the Conservative government for an obsession with secrecy and for bullying the country's public servants.

"It's an issue about the character of this government," said Rae. "It's about a government that conceals information and hides facts. It's a morality tale." The opposition's attack is centred on the actions of International Co-operation Minister Bev Oda, who admitted Monday that she is responsible for modifying a memo that had originally recommended funding for an aid group.
As Bob Rae rightfully suggests, nothing like this would ever take place without Stephen Harper's approval. But there is someone else that we shouldn't overlook. Remember it was Jason Kenney who told a gathering in Israel that they had defunded KAIROS because they led the charge for sanctions against Israel, until they ended their Apartheid.

Turns out he had the wrong KAIROS.

There is a very good episode of Fault Lines, Canada-Israel: The other special relationship, that goes into depth on Canada's new one-sided policy in the Middle East. Every Canadian should watch this because the Harper government has aligned itself with the Jewish Defense League, an organization that the American FBI have called a violent terrorist organization.

I think it's time to open a dialogue in this country and let people know just what is being done in our name. It's very troubling. The Bev Oda situation is only the tip of the iceberg.

  1. Why is HarperCon **SO** fanatical about supporting Isreal bombing innocent Palestinian civilians? What’s the secret agenda at work here?

‎Canada does one billion dollars of trade with Israel annually. Most of it military. (At the 5:30 mark).

‎... the standard picture is that the U.S.(and by extension Canada) is an honest broker trying to bring together two recalcitrant opponents- Israel and Palestinian Authority.

    That’s just a charade.
